Delete your DateMaite account
This page explains how to delete your account in the DateMaite dating app (developer: Steven Mills), and what is deleted or kept afterwards.
In the app
- Open DateMaite and sign in. If you've lost access, use "Forgot password" or sign in with a code sent to your phone.
- Go to Profile → Settings, then under Your data tap Delete account.
- Confirm it's you: enter your password, or ask for a code by text and enter it. On iPhone, if you signed in with Apple, you confirm with Apple instead.
- Tap Delete my account, then Delete to confirm.
Your account is deleted straight away and you're signed out. If you have a date check-in or a live location share running, finish or stop it first. If a safety alert went off in the last 24 hours, please try again a day later.
If you can't use the app
- Email info@datemaite.com with the subject Delete my account, and tell us the email address on your account. If you signed up with Apple, this may be an Apple "Hide My Email" address.
- We'll send a confirmation to the email address on your account. Nothing is deleted until you reply to it, so no one else can delete your account.
- Once you've confirmed, we delete your account within 30 days.
If your account uses only a phone number, please sign in with a text code and delete it in the app, so we can be sure it's you.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, age, bio, prompts, interests and preferences
- Your photos and voice notes
- Your likes, matches and chats (your chats disappear for the other person too)
- Your location, live location shares, date check-ins, safety alerts and emergency contacts
- Any unused Boosts, Sparks and credits
- Your sign-in details. If you confirm with Apple in the app, DateMaite's access to your Apple ID is removed too (you can also remove it in your Apple ID settings).
What is kept, and for how long
- A private copy of your chats for 90 days, or up to a year if a report between you and another member is open, only so our safety team can investigate reports. It is then deleted.
- If your account was banned for breaking our rules: a one-way coded fingerprint of the email address, phone number and Apple ID on the account, kept for as long as the ban stands, so the same person can't simply sign up again. It can't be turned back into your details.
- Reports you made about other members, and any evidence you attached, kept without your name so our safety team can still act on them.
- Safety records, such as a summary of reports made about an account, and security logs such as sign-in records, kept for safety, security and fraud prevention.
- Records we must keep by law, for as long as the law requires.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it first in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. A card subscription paid on our website ends straight away, with no refund for the rest of the period.
